Paintings in this collection are painted on location, sometimes in their entirety and in some cases finalized in the studio.  The challenge is to capture the essence of a place or subject as quickly as possible, in changing light, and often in changing weather conditions. Typically, in-studio paintings are brought to a higher degree of finish than plein air pieces.
