Workshops:

LANDSCAPES IN OIL/ACRYLIC
If you are painting landscapes but they just don’t have the impact you want them to have, this is the workshop for you. Focus will be on composition, aerial perspective, color, edges, values and forms. Working from photographs, we will cover what to leave in, what to leave out, how to rearrange the composition, if necessary, how to paint what you felt instead of what a camera recorded. Lunch & beverages Included.

5 days - $365 Mon – Fri, Oct 20 – 24  9:30 – 4:30

WATERCOLOR (INTERMEDIATE - ADVANCED)

In this workshop, we will review the basics - composition, values, color and color temperature, light and form, linear and aerial perspective, handling the elusive medium of watercolor...AND we will focus on painting landscapes from YOUR photographs. A photo is a record of what you saw, not a blueprint for your painting! I will help you clarify your concept and decide what to leave in, what to leave out, and what to change!  Instructor demonstrations, critique sessions, and one-on-one guidance. Lunch & Beverages included.

5 days - $365 Mon – Fri, Oct 20 – 24  9:30 – 4:30

Student Comments (last names are not included for reasons of privacy):

"...a warm thank you for the great student-teacher experience that I had in your art class.  You are a good teacher and spent time on each student helping and assessing and praising and urging more effort or a better eye, etc., depending on what each of us needed for our skill level.  Such positive and honest feedback is helpful to the student. The critique sessions were vey helpful as well.  I also picked up many good ideas by watching you and the other students."  Anne F., 2008

"Great class. I learned a lot. Pat is a very good instructor. The mix of demos and one-on-one coaching time was perfect."  Zoe S., 2008

"Perfect combination of lecture/demo & personal attention, with plenty of time to paint."  Molly M., 2008

"Days were full. Plenty of instruction – Instructor gave 110% to each student regardless of level – very patient, very knowledgable, very kind. ENERGETIC!!" Dru S., 2008

"Pat Gray is exceptional at portrait art instruction. I have benefited by her instruction beyond my very limited talent." Carole R., 2008

"Pat Aube Gray is not only a good painter & teacher, but she’s always willing to share her vast knowledge & skills with her students. Moreover, when we don’t absorb all of it the first time, she still is patient in repeating. Most important of all, she never says I told you so. It’s as if she’s offering the information for the first time. I should know, being a five time offender!" Maurice E., 2007

"Excellent instructor (Pat Aube Gray) for oil painting for me. This class met the needs of all students though we all had diverse art backgrounds and experience." Diane S., 2007

"Pat really went above and beyond to help each of us individually." Carol Ann O., 2007

"Great Instructor, wonderful class. Highly recommend. (As) Arnie Schwarzenegger said, “I’ll be back.” Judy G., 2007

"Could not have been better! Pat is a wonderful instructor – the best!" Anonymous 2006

"A seven-day class is a superb innovation for painters. Pat Gray is without peer as an artist and teacher." John K., 2006

"Absolutely great and wonderful!… This was my fourth John C. Campbell Folk School class with Pat. Need I say more. Not only can she paint well, but she can demonstrate and communicate verbally her subject. Moreover, she has the patience of Job and manages to repeat, repeat, repeat instructions as many times as necessary." Maurice E., 2006

"Pat is a warm friendly teacher who can articulate, demonstrate and set up an effective learning center." Harris 2006

"Pat Gray is the most outstanding instructor I have ever had in any subject – here and by university." John K., 2004

"Pat’s warmth and sense of humor made me anxious to goto class and sorry when it ended. I learned an enormous amount from her and feel my skill has greatly improved. She’s teriffic!" Marcia W. 2004

"Great teacher…& lots of fun!" Jimmye B., 2004

"Among your group of instructors, I’d rank Pat tops! She’s a great teacher and does an excellent job of tailoring the class to meet the needs of individual students. She’s exceptionally generous with her time as well. We hope to see more classes from her!" Carol P., 2004

"Excellent, extremely well-qualified instructor – with a cheerful disposition to boot!" Virginia T., 2002

" Pat Gray was a superb teacher. She was patient, well prepared, and made sure that each student understood and did well – but did not do the work for the student. I would definitely take (a class) again from her." Norma R. A., 2002
